About Burley

At Burley, we're really just kids with bigger feet and more responsibilities - like finding better ways to do what we love. Here, safe is the new cool. We think umbrellas are ridiculous; feeling the rain on our faces makes us feel alive. Curiosity takes us all kinds of crazy places - urban, suburban and beyond. But to us, it's not about the destination. It's definitely about the ride.

Our love of bicycle trailers dates back more than thirty years. In 1978, Alan Scholz opened a business called Burley Bike Bags - a company inspired by his wife "Burley Bev," who was a local bike racer in Oregon. The couple sold their bags at the Saturday Market in Eugene, which meant making a thirty-mile commute from their home in Cottage Grove. Determined to live a car-free lifestyle, Alan designed a bicycle trailer from old swing-set parts to carry his products. This marked the beginning of an entirely new way to travel. Since then, we've been perfecting his invention with passion, drive and dedication. That's why Burley is known for making the safest, most durable trailers on the road.
