Meet Our 2021 Community Partners

At Burley, we believe biking makes life better and we work hard to help people do more by bike. For us, that work extends beyond the products we make to include the impact we have in our community and across the country. That’s why we are dedicated to supporting future riders, building more rideable and equitable communities, and protecting and promoting access to the outdoors.

This year, we’re proud to partner with three inspiring organizations who share our belief that biking makes life better. Read on to learn more about Equiticity, Oregon Interscholastic Cycling League, and Hike It Baby.

Equiticity is a racial equity movement that asks the question, “What happens when we turn on the power and equity flows like electricity through our homes, streets, neighborhoods, and cities?” Through research, programs, and advocacy, Equiticity works to improve the lives of Black, Brown, and Indigenous people by harnessing their collective power to advance racial equity, increase mobility, and accelerate racial justice across the U.S. Some of their key programs include community bike rides, a workforce development program centered around bike design, and the Equiticity Bike Team. The Oregon Interscholastic Cycling League (OICL) is a nonprofit project that is part of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). Through their 6th-12th grade youth racing teams, trail maintenance programs, and skills clinics, OICL seeks to improve participants’ quality of life through outdoor recreation, relationship-building, and a supportive community. Their programs serve kids of all skill levels and are guided by NICA’s five core principles: Fun, Inclusivity, Equity, Respect, Community. Learn more about their plans for 2021 by visiting the OICL website.

Hike it Baby is a national nonprofit that seeks to create opportunities and remove barriers to access so families with babies and young children can enjoy the outdoors. Through organized group hikes and events in over 300 branches nationwide, and online tools and resources, Hike it Baby fosters a sense of community and promotes outdoor recreation for young families of all backgrounds. Their programs support their overall vision of a world where everyone can enjoy the physical and mental benefits of spending time outside.
